Portslade Day Nursery is a caring and playful environment that will appeal to your child’s natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
Our team of dedicated early years’ practitioners have a wealth of knowledge and a passion for giving children the best start in their learning journey.
We deliver high quality teaching through a wide range of educational experiences, using your child’s interests to plan activities that will promote their all-round development.
Your child’s progress will be regularly monitored, with observations informing plans tailored to meet their specific needs, enabling them to progress at their own pace.
As well as indoor learning, your child will have access to a range of outdoor learning opportunities in our large outside environment, which also provides plenty of space for them to be physically active.
We are a fully inclusive setting with three on-site Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinators. All staff are Makaton trained, and we have been awarded the Brighton and Hove Equalities Quality Mark.
Baby Snug (3 – 18 months)
Our baby room is the perfect place for our youngest children to begin their nursery journey.
Your child, with the support of their key person, will have access to a wide range of age-appropriate resources that will meet their interests and developmental needs.
With new sights and sounds and a host of other sensory experiences, plenty of space for exploration, and quiet, cosy areas for relaxation and sleep, your child will experience a nurturing environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence as they embark on this exciting stage of their growth.
The Toddler Den (18 months – 2.5 years)
Our toddler room is a vibrant space where your child will embark on exciting adventures through exploration, play, and new experiences.
We will nurture your child’s growing independence, while keeping learning fun and engaging. Every day, your toddler will enjoy creative play, colourful resources, singing, storytelling, and outdoor adventures.
Our caring staff will guide them through important milestones, including potty training (with your consent), supporting their journey towards greater autonomy.
In this warm, stimulating environment, we will help your child blossom, creating memories and building skills that will last a lifetime.
Pre-School Study (2.5 – 5 years)
Our pre-school room is the exciting next step in your child’s nursery journey, designed for children aged 30 months to school age. Here, we nurture your child’s natural curiosity and interests, creating a warm and engaging environment that promotes school readiness.
Through playful activities, we introduce foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and science, ensuring that learning feels like an adventure.
Each carefully planned experience covers all areas of development, allowing your child to explore and grow at their own pace.
Our experienced and caring practitioners support your little one as they build confidence and prepare for the wonderful world of school.
Nursery Manager: Leilah Scully
Leilah has worked in early childhood education since 2001 and has held managerial roles since 2004.
As nursery manager, she draws on her extensive experience to guide her team in delivering best practice, creating an enriching environment that supports learning, social development, and independence.
Passionate about early years, Leilah loves nurturing children’s curiosity and helping them develop a lifelong love of learning.
